4400 is the highest fire-performance tier in the RezWood™ family. It is built for commercial, multifamily, and code-driven construction where the material must do more than carry a Class A label—it must meet the requirements applied to fire-retardant-treated wood.
More than a color or short test
4400 is evaluated for use when fire-retardant-treated lumber is required. Covered lumber products achieve flame-spread index values of 25 or less and smoke-developed index values of 450 or less under the extended testing identified in the current report.
Documented rated assemblies
A separate third-party evaluation provides specific modified UL V314 wall configurations, including one-hour and two-hour ratings based on ASTM E119 testing, ASTM E2032 extension methodology, and the exact listed assembly details. Request the Report through TechWood’s controlled technical-document process.
Specify the whole assembly
A fire rating belongs to the documented material and assembly—not to red lumber in isolation. Stud size and spacing, gypsum layers, sheathing, insulation, fasteners, joints, and exterior facing must follow the applicable report and approved construction documents.

Subterranean-termite resistance, including Formosan termites
Resists subterranean termites, including Formosan termites, within the current product scope. Untreated wood and cellulose remain outside the protection package. The public technical evaluation documents subterranean-termite resistance for eligible treated lumber within the approved application and exposure scope.
Extended fire-retardant performance
FRT lumber with extended ASTM E84 and ASTM E2768 performance; rated walls require the exact documented assembly The documented fire-retardant system uses extended surface-burning evaluation; any rated wall claim belongs to the complete listed assembly.

After construction · 5 years · Mold
Eligible projects may include limited protection against mold growth on the treated lumber. Coverage does not replace moisture control, ventilation, leak repair, or normal building maintenance.
Long-term protection · 10 years · Subterranean termite damage
Eligible projects may include limited protection for damage from the termite species named in the written warranty, including subterranean and Formosan termites. Untreated wood, cellulose, and conditions outside the documented application remain outside the coverage.

Texas Wood Tech currently offers RezWood™ 4400 in common dimensional lumber sizes. Large timbers, engineered beams, treated structural panels, and truss packages are not part of the current RezWood™ offering unless separately released in writing.
Water-based, mineral-centered protection
RezWood™ uses a custom water-based, mineral-centered wood-treatment blend; formulation details, ingredient concentrations, and process controls remain proprietary. The technical evaluations include AWPA E12 reaction-with-metals testing, while fastener selection still follows the exact treatment, exposure, building code, and connector manufacturer’s guidance. RezWood™ 4400 is represented by supplied certification for a system tested with wood under UL 2818 for low chemical emissions. After treatment migration and full drying, company-approved language describes the finished treated wood as non-hazardous for normal construction handling. Cutting any lumber creates wood dust, so use appropriate dust control, eye protection, hygiene, and job-specific PPE. Never burn treated wood; reuse and disposal depend on local rules and facility acceptance.
